Default Installing short shifter, should I change tranny fluid?

I am installing my MGW, should I change the tranny fluid as well while I at it? How much would a shop charge to change the fluid to synthetic? Also, should I get the shifter gasket for the mgw, or is the silicone that it came wigood enough...Thanks in advance guys...

I would change the fluid while the shifter is out. Thats the easiest way to do it. The RTV is fine to make the gasket. Thats what I used. Dont let a shop do the fluid change. Do it yourself and save the money.

do it your self but dont put to much fluid in... if you have t45 tranny should take just about 3 qrts. if you over fill you can ruin the tranny not to scare just fill to the fill point when it starts to come out of the fill point (top bolt on the side)
