Does a KB 1.7 need any prep?
Hey gang! i posted before asking about how a 3650 would handle a kb 1.7 . Is there anything i should do to the mustang before installing? I have a new clutch, and an aluminum flywheel on deck. My goal is around 425 rwhp on a 2003 GT Vert. Thanks!

u can put it on a completely stock car..but u should do some exhaust and suspension mods...suspension mods to put the power to the ground especially and a better intake to get air in and the exaust to get it out

The suspension that would help most are the control arms and shocks and struts. I'm not sure if a regular CAI would fit the KB though. KB does sell their own CAI, and you could ask them if the other ones on the market (K&N or JLT for example) would work.

With the number of reputable companies putting out cat-backs for the mustang now, is there a large power difference amongst any of them, or is it all coming down to tone now a days? I do have a MAC CAI and a bassani SS x-pipe, Steeda Comp springs and 3.73s. I was thinking that a short throw (prob MGW) and an exhaust would be my next things before the blower.

^^^ What they said.. Subframes help alot from what i've heard, and if u can do Long tubes and either a shorty X or H pipe do it. Wider tires are probably a good idea too... 17X10.5s wheels with 315/35s would help... unless you dont want traction in gears 1 and 2.

What are the benefits of long tubes/shorty x-pipe? i have a standard bassani SS cat x-pipe. I def am getting 17x10.5 . i was thinking subframe connectors would be a real good idea, especially since it is a convertible. what do control arms do? I have Steeda competition springs on my car, but didn't replace the struts. Any idea on what struts i should get? It is my daily driver, and i do like the autocross idea more than the dragstrip idea, but speed is speed in any case! Thanks!

Good sub-frame connectors are a must on a drop top and at least install adjustable upper control arms so you can get a negative pinion angle which as stated before is important if you want to hook up in 1st and 2nd, good luck.
