Default C&L 85mm mass air on a 2001 GT... Possible?? Help..

What's the deal guys,

I'm kinda' new to the Mustang world and I have some questions about C&L...

I know that they make the 80mm mass air for 2001 Gt's and 85Mass for the 2002's and up right?

Has anyone used 85mm on a 2001 or earlier? Does anybody know of a friend who has??

Would I have to make modifications for the 85mm to fit my 2001?

Please help a newbee here..

Thanks again..

They started making aftermarket 85mm when Ford made 80 MM stock in 2002. Have you done all the other intake mods already? Upper intake plenum, throttle body, what size TB?, aftermarket intake pipe and filter? If not do all that first, most will say over 80mm mass air is overkill-without even discussing that you took care of exhaust as well, hopefully.

Sounds good, personally I would go 80 MM mass air and C/l upper intake plenum, then consider a timing adjuster or programmer to advance your timing to 14 degrees, then run high octane, you will love it,

RJM02 summed it all up perfectly. It's pretty well known that the biggest restriction in a 99+ GT's intake is the mass air sensor.

Sounds good.. I'll be doing the timing when I dyno tune the car. I'll be adding pulleys and some 4.10's (in garage). I also bought some PI heads from a guy who totaled his car so they could be ported and polished.. I'm also adding a cam.. that's why I was looking into the 85mm.. I guess 80mm will do the job, right??

Thanks again..

The 80mm MAM is all you need for your year.

Yeah, 80 mm maf thats all you need, also you mean add 2 cams, also just so you know you have no distributor so when you dyno tune you will need a programmer or timing adjuster. The PI heads will help ALOT on your your car some say 40-50 rwhp.
