Driver side air vent removal

Driver side air vent removal
I'm trying to remove the driver side arivent, but I can't seem to get to the two screws on the bottom of the driver side air vent (to the left of the steering wheel). What is blocking it is the large plastic piece that is underneath the steering wheel. Anyone know how to remove this?
