Default Steeda triax question

Got my new TriaX shifter yesterday and installed it with no problems....however I'm noticing a few things:
1) There seems to be heat (not hot, just warmth) coming from the shift boot area now.....didn't notice this with the stock shifter...
2) Going from gear to gear is "chunky" now.....

Are these normal??

Really....? Can you explain why on both of those by any chance? I just want to make sure I'm not grinding my gears into iron powder....

u wont... the tri ax shifter is rather notchy. it will always be notchy. but ur gears wont grind just because you're shifter feels like its not in the right place. i feel the most notchyness from 1st to 2nd. Other than that it is a shifter with firm shiftpoint which is great for me because I love the feeling of actually controlling the shifter rather it control me.

I've had mine in for about a year now and it's not quite as 'notchy' as it was. Still, it's nowhere near what the stock piece felt like. I don't notice the heat so much on mine, though.

Aftermarket shifters don't have as much insulation as stock shifters so thats where the heat is coming from. Tri-Ax's are quite notchy so that you know when it's in gear and have no doubts.
