Auto '99-G-tech is a full sec quicker w/OD off?!
Did 3 g-tech type runs today to get a baseline. I found that turning the OD off yielded quicker times by a full second.
First was a 14.98. Then got a mig 15 sec with OD on and the last with OD off was a 14.5.
Has this happened to anyone else and can anyone explain this? My '99 Automatic convertible is stock but I am getting some converter work and a shift kit next week so the tests today. Thanks, mark

Did you put the shifter down into first before you ran again? Sometimes with my OD on, the car starts off in second unless I put it down into first then back up to drive, with od off it does not do this, I believe it is for fuel economy, like the chevy's had the skipshift thing,,,,,,,,,,

i always put it into 1 then yes , hear me , CONTROL WHEN IT SHIFTS, and go to 2 at 4,800 rpms. If you put it in D its gonna go to 6,000 and thats going way past peak power.

I did not do the first gear thing mentioned but it left in drive everytime. Shifting manually will allow pressure to build higher and sometimes chirp the tires, happens with my 245/45's too. 4800 seems awfully low since these are not torque motors either but if that works well for you that's great. I prefer leaving it in drive as mine shifts at 5500 which seems to work well. When I get the converter work and shift kit done wednesday/thursday I will ask about the difference in having OD on/off.
I'm not planning many mods with this car but enough to make shifting at 5750/6000 worthwhile. Better intake and exhaust will do that. A set of 4.10's and a tuner would be nice also but that's it. It seems that without a S/C performance is limited. 281 NA c.i.'s aren't going to push my 3300+ car very quick:> Mark
