Default screw it

well i am having way too many problems with my motor i built a sweet motor that worked for like 2,000 miles then started to to knocking replaced some parts knocking stoped then developed a new noise that makes it sound like i have a bunch of bent valves so I am going to repull the motor if i do i am going to either stroke it out to a 302 and port my p.i. heads or i am going to sell the short block it everything is good and buy a short block 302 make sure i can get the car running in the 9.1 compresion area and possiably through a s/c on it so maybe if anyone is interested i might be able to sell a well built short block for you

Sounds like with bent valves etc you are not checking the rod strech or something?

Most people do not recommend a stroker on these cars. You might want to talk to code3 about it.

I think you would be alot better off either way to just buy a shortblock and put the heads of your choice on it. I have heard of alot of people that built their own shortblock just having a ton of problems with em.

Yeah, I was told that even a professional mechanic would have a hell of a time building a shortblock properly if they had not done it before or got alot of information about it from someone that had. I dunno what could be so complicated but thats what everyone says.

yeah, thats the same thing I thought, but there just seems to be something about it. I was talking to a guy down at the lake of the ozarks that went thru at least one shortblock before he got it all right and it surived the first dyno run.

I dunno wtf could be so hard, but it must have something to do with the tolerances etc.
