Default ???

ok guys i started a thread along time ago about hearing a noise from the a/c compressor but i found out it wasnt it. I found out its the crankshaft pulley. It wobbles and kinda hesitates to turn when the a/c is on. So i was wondering how bad this is? And can i just tighten the bolts on the crankshaft pulley so it doesnt wobble.

Thats not good. Are they aftermarket piggyback pulleys? You need to get that fixed before you F up your engine.

+1, man you should fix that right away, I wouldn't drive around with the crank pully bad, it's a balancer/dampner too

Well, first off, do you know if the actual pulley is loose, or falling apart??

Do you know how to safely remove the serpentine belt??

If so, take it off, remember the routing if you can, and begin inspecting it. Don't worry, it sounds like it couldn't get too much more messed up than what it is right now, so go ahead, and poke around..

Don't destroy or marr anything though, just in case it's just a simple loose nut...

Well, here's where you begin the troubleshooting process..

A) Is the hardware holding the pulley loose, like "finger tight,?"

B) If not, what other parts of the pulley can separate from the main pulley race?

C) If none of these apply, then you may have a bigger problem at hand. Probably not, but, always an option..

Do you have a digi-cam?? If so, take some pictures and throw them up here. A picture is worth a thousand words...
