Default money saver or performace loss

Ok, i have a stock 98 GT and the stock catback is 2.5" tube. I really would like a slp LM1 catback. Tube is tube right? Whats stopping me from just buyin the 2.5"LM1 mufflers and clamping them where my old ones were. Would the inlet on the LM mufflers slip over the 2.5 stock tube and clamp on? Would I lose any hp, would it sound like a$$?

If the stock tube is 2.25" would there be anyway to still use the 2.5 mufflers with going through a ton of bs, I dont really care that much abou the hp gains because I know its so little, I would really like a better sound, and I dont have the money.

I don't think there would be anyway, you can get that catback for 414 shipped to you at mustangtuning.com, for just the mufflers it would be like 250 wouldn't it, just save up another 160 dollars and have the whole catback system. on ebay you can get a whole flowmasters catback for 275 i think. Flowmasters are better than a stock system.

you can go to a local muffler shop and they will be able to weld you in some flowmasters, they can order slp mufflers probably i dunno the ones around here charge 175 for flowmaster muffler and 225 for magnaflow mufflers, that's for install too, thought about going that route but decided to spend extra and get the whole catback
