Underdrive Pulley Installation Challenges

Underdrive Pulley Installation Challenges
Just got finished installing the UDP's on my buddy's 99 Cobra. The Harmonic Balancer (aka Crankshaft Pulley) proved to be a MAJOR headache to remove! For everyone's knowledge, the bolts to use to remove the Harmonic Balancer with the Pulley puller are 8 MM Diameter by 1.25 Pitch (about 60 MM long). While the Steeda parts seem like well made, high quality pieces, the directions are PATHETIC! I would not buy them again based simply on some of the headaches encountered as a result of the worthless directions. The pulley had never been off and was very hard coming off. Make sure you buy the highest quality grade bolts you can find to use with the puller as you don't want to snap one like I did. Additionally, if the pulley has never been off and is fairly rusty, I highly recommend running a thread tapper through the bolt holes in the pulley to clean the threads. Other than the removal of all the stock, corroded on parts, the installation itself went smoothly.

So your blameing steeda because your stock parts were hard to get off? I didn't have a problem with my Steeda Pulleys or any of their other products i have used.

I have BBK UD pulleys and I experienced the same thing. The directions are pretty much crap and it took me about an hour to install the pulleys. Especially since I could barely fit my impact wrench inbetween the crank and the radiator, I had to take my sweet ole time lol

Steeda UDP's were the EASIEST mod I did, one hour start to finish. I had No clearance problems at all with the impact wrench, they listed tightening procedures, cautions, no problems. If you think that was bad, try headers!
