I just did this a couple weeks ago. Disconnect the battery as mentioned. If you have a steering wheel puller like this...
You'll need to put the screws where the two red circles are. Of course you'll have to get that Torx screw out first.

I bought an Fr500 steering wheel. It's the same as the factory wheel except it's thicker and has black leather all around. My airbag went right back in.

I believe you can get in trouble if your car came with an airbag and you take it out. I know my state has a law like that. Ah well. Doesn't affect me.
