Default when should i start woring abour the rear??

i was thinking today. when i go to the track, can i launch the car hard? i have 4.10's and the mods in my sig. will the rear handle it if i get traction. i will probly still be using street radials though soo the traction probly wont be there. but when or what hp should i get my rear end built? what parts? thanks

I've read on these boards that gearing like the 3.73's, 4.10's and whatnot will make traction on stock suspensions and tires difficult which is understandable. As for improving suspension performance, try a panhard rod...

well, he was wondering more about not blowing his rear end up, opposed to hwo to get traction..

im not sure wmmost,, ive heard some say that 4.10's + DR's + 6K =no problem,,, but others say to worry about it,,,i think it was dan, or jdan that launched their GT around redline on DR's a ton and nothign happened

as for me, next time i'm at the track, im launching around low 5's because i bogged the hell out of my 5sp with 4.10's launching around 3500 on MT's

When I tried launching hard at the track, I just spun the tires. Of course I didn't have drag radials, but I doubt it will hurt the rear end as long as you don't drop the clutch when launching.

Invest in some subframe connectors (weld-in).. It's cheap insurance if your really worried about it. You can typically get a set of full-lengths installed for ~$200.

worry about it after it blows up.....until then there's no need. I would think you'd be fine until slicks. Friend launches his GT at 5500 all the time with just the gears done to the rear.

When you hear something snap and your rear axle falls off is a good time to start worrying.
