clunking sound...
when shifting gears and releasing the clutch it makes a clunking sound and there is a slight hesitation before it clunks. it seems to be getting worse the more the car is driven. i jacked the car up and tried to twist the drive shaft thinking it could be the u-joint but it didnt move. does anyone know what this could possibly be? (btw its an 01 GT 5 speed)
thank you

RE: clunking sound...
still could be the U joint... honestly you can't twist that drive shaft like your engine can...
sounds like either that or the rear end, i'd go towards the u joints. mine did a similar thing and squeaked too...
drop the drive shaft and have a close look at each U joint

yeah dude, that little bit of slack when you couple 250+ ft /lbs of torque to it, will generate a clunk, that plus the 3000+ pound car
get some HD u joints in there and you should be ready to rock
