my dad was a mechanic, so I picked up alot from him. wether it be watching or helping work on our tractors or vechicles. or just doing it myself and asking him what next. The most fun project for me was rebuilding my transmission. Also learned from watching stuff like the stuff on power block.
alot of the stuff about my mustang I have learned here on the forums, and then doing some stuff on mine.

I started off looking things up on the internet, then i bought a haynes book and went to work. Not to mention me and my dad used to tear apart old ford 460 engines so i sorta had a jump on how the whole engine basically works. And i was in the automotive program throught Vo-tech...

I grew up on a farm in Alabama, and we worked on EVERYTHING including tractors, dump trucks, all kinds of farm equipment. So I have a good mechinical background, and can work on pretty much everything. As far as Mustang specific things, I read. I read on the internet probably 2-3 hours a day. I do this because it interests me. I love working on things.
It's pretty much just jump in and learn. Nothing beats experience. Just work on stuff. You will figure it out.

i'll be honest..i DONT know that much as far as how to fix and stuff like that..
granted, ive learned a TON of things on this site and things like it.
when i started to do my H pipe/catback install, i didnt have the right tools so i paid 50$ to get it done..
now ive done a couple really small things, but its better than nothing
(spark plugs, fuel filter, gonna change the oil tomorrow)
that doesnt mean i dont want to learn though...(oh yea, water pump on 89 5.0..that was kind of fun, but a pretty good sized project)

i learned quite a bit early in my life by just watching. my buddy's dad was a backyard mechanic so i always used to ask questions when he was working on a car, hell i learned to drive stick by just watching my dad in a 1980 chevy
after that it was a whole lotta reading and trying to do stuff for myself
