Default 4.6 + 1/4 = 15s?

Today i went to the dragstrip to watch and while i was watching like 80 percent of the mustangs there were pulling mid 15s in the 1/4, i have no idea why the times were that bad. Also like 2 months ago i took my car to the strip and it ran 2 15.7s, why is this, i cant run it again untill my 18th birthday. i am so anxious.

probably because it's so hot and humid right now, to many water molecules in the air, try again in the late fall, you'll see an improvement, because my non-pi motor is capable of a 14.32

Fiad where are you located? I have also had crappy times in comparison too what i should be running. Elevation and crappy weather all play a big role in ETs.

Forgot to mention that most automatic GT's here in central Illinois were running low 10's in the 1/8th. I think that converts to a high 15 second 1/4 mile.

Is this because of the humidity, autos are suppose to do much better right?

I think stock auto GT's are good for a mid 14 second pass while stock manuals are good for a 14.1 to 14.3 pass. Autos are generally more consistent than manuals in the 1/4 mile.

Well, I live in Tampa, Fl and I was at the track last week. I didnt see the weather doing really anything to the performance of my car or anyone elses. Atleast not that big of a change. I ran 8.4 in the 1/8 without NOS. It could of also been the track and driver error. Maybe they were all stock GT's? Were you at the Orlando Dragway? Or a lesser known track in the area?

Auto's are more consistent but they are slugs without a tune. A decent manual tranny driver will smoke an untuned auto all day long. An untuned auto GT 99-04 is good for high 14's low 15's. A tuned one will drop you down to more consistent 14's.

and yes, right now is not the best time of the year in most places to try running the quarter....the air is too humid and heavy. Dense dry air > Air that is dense from humidity. Water does not ignite.
