Default Auto Shift Kit Owners...

I was wandering how many automatic owners have shift kits? If so, what brand? Did you see any performance gains? Was driveability still good with it?

They have TransGo shift kits on Ebay for $50, shipped. Does anyone have experience with these?

yeah, get the Transgo HD-2 kit. Firm shifts when you get on it. If driving normally, cant really tell its there. I can chirp 2nd now with the kit. Plus, you can hold any rpm in any gear while manually shifting it... great for the track!

Does the shift kit do the same thing a hand held tuner would?

no, shift kit actually is putting in new springs, etc in your tranny. Makes it a stiffer shift. A tuner adjusts your shift points. I have a 95, so i cant tune, but I'll say the shift kit was the best thing i have done, next to new gears.

So, even if I'm going to get a tuner (mine is an 02'), I should still get the shift kit? I will probably get the shift kit soon, since I heard they drop your times a couple of tenths.

it is strongly recommended- the shift kit eliminates slippage and will keep your tranny healthy and well as not "coast" into gear when your getting on it. another thing to get would be a tranny cooler if your going to be hammering it a lot. I passed, Im a "take the car down the track twice and call it a night" kind of guy.

All of this done, you will see quite an improvement on your times.

there is a great post here describing the difference between the tuner and the shift kit for you late models. Im not sure where it is.. if your really bored, try the search button. very imformative when it comes to why a shift kit and tuner is a perfect setup
