I drove my 03 gt nearly everyday last year in the winter. You have to buy winter tires, it's a must. I would suggest getting a seperate set of rims and tires. With the traction control and winter tires and safe driving, a stang in the winter isn't as bad as they say.
+1 My car had zero problem with snow tires, and they were wide too.

I tried my stang in the snow ONCE. Was 2 inches tops, and it had all come down at once so there was no salt on the roads. Needless to say, NEVER doing that again. The traction control doesn't help when you can't even start it by going amazingly gently in 2nd gear.

... Then again I was also still using the factory, most importantly BALD tires. With a set of winter tires and a lot of weight in the back you should be ok if you take it slow, but I'd reccomending getting a $800 beater for the days there is snow/salt on the roads.

Mustangs are horrible in the snow. Rain is ok and sometimes iffy, but snow is not good.

I drove mine 1 time in the snow. That was the last time. Now my car doesn`t even see rain. My 4x4 grand cherokee takes all of the abuse now.

i drove my car 2 times in the winter and i will never do that again.....but it does make u a better driver thats for sure......my buddy drives his all winter tho, studded snow tires and a few sandbags in the back and you should be fine, just as long as the roads are not under 2 ft of snow

Honestly I think some of you guys are over reacting, with the proper tires its really not that big of a deal... I'd say buy the stang.
