Its more like a 10 hr job... The two top bolt on top of the tranny are a pain.. youll need like a 30 inch. extension.. Drop the x-pipe then the drive shaft (drain the fluid or its gonna be a mess) I didnt replace my fluid and i have about 113,--- miles.. Just refilled it. take off the shifter drop the tranny mounts, jack up the motor, (remove starter, yes the top bolt is hard) get the two bolts on the tranny then the rest.. ( i believe there is 3 on the driver side and 2 on the pass. ) pull the tranny off, youre gonna have some problems with gettin it off and on just have to wrestle with it for awhile take off the clutch then the flywheel. I would have the flywheel resurface and replace the pilot and the throwout bearing while i was in there.. Then put it all back together.. pilot bearing was a pain. Also, I would highly recommend and alignment tool.. let me know if you need anything else.

it is a long job took my uncle and i bout 6 hours over 3 days in freezing weather. i bought the wrong flywheel bolts (thought arp made some for the 4.6 but they dont) and the newly resurfaced flywheel was ruined and had to wait till the next day to buy a new one from ford. so 12 hours sounds good. we had it on rhino ramps and to get the tranny out just get under it a bear hug it and just roll on your side. the tranny is really heavy and your gonna need another person to help.

What should i do for that 30" extension? Whats the longest extension you can buy? i think i have about 4 extensions totalling somewhere near 25" if my memory serves me correctly. Do you need the extensions because you can't fit a tool in there for the bolts?

the two top bolts you will be loosening from about where the shifter is... because you just cant get up there to them. youre gonna need some swivels too.. I used a one piece 30" extension that i bought from harbor freight.. youre also gonna need an exhaust gasket for the pass side between the exhaust manifold and x-pipe if you still have stock exhaust manifolds (headers)
