Engine swap no speedo!

Default Engine swap no speedo!
My fiance has a 96 GT with the motor and tranny out of a wrecked 2000 GT, and the speedo and odometer don't work. I did a search but couldn't find what I was looking for. Does this sound like a normal problem or a result of the later drivetrain switch?

you need a differnet gauge cluster the 2000 tranny is electronic speedo and your 96 gauges are mechanical
