I jack the rear up first and place the jack stands underneath it and let the jack back down.. I have 2 jacks so I will jack one under the left arm right under the spring and one on the right.. If you only have one jack i really dont know what to tell you... Other than do one side at a time. good luck...

I know this doesn't help you one bit right now. In the future if you were to install a good set of full length, weld in sub-frame connectors, they provide excellent jacking and stand points.

i have 4 jack stands. since we are the subject of where to place the jack stands, if i were to do a spring install, where do i place the jack stands then? i cant place them on the axle cuz i need to get the springs out. and when i need to get the springs in can i jack the rear up using the diff? i know this is a no no but since there isnt gonna be a the whole cars weight on it cuz i will place the jack stands somewhere else.

Two years and a whole he-- of a lot of money ago, I put the front stands just behind the lower a-arms on the sub-frame. On the rear I put them just in front of the lower control arms on the sub-frame. I think...............Yah, must of been that way.... I left the jack under the tranny cross-member with a bit of tension on it in case something really bad happened. I don't know if this is the safest or the right way to do it, but I'm still alive.

the best place to jack up the car from the front I would have to say would be that rectangular shaped object, I think it's the oil pan
