Hey guys i have an 01 Saleen with the 3650. i've been having trouble with my tranny. it comes out of gear fine but when shifting it seems to hit a wall halfway through and then pop into gear. I put in royal purple syncromax oil and swapped out the hurst shifter for a mgw which helped a lot but it still does it. i have a feeling my synchros are going out. I've been quoted $1000 to rebuild it. Is that a reasonable price? How much would it cost to replace the tranny with perhaps a built one or maybe even a t56?

Just trying to figure out whether i should rebuild it or replace it. Oh, one more question, how much hp can the stock tranny hold reliably? I plan on bumping the car to around 400whp.

For a complete rebuild, a grand isn't that bad as the parts are expensive. Yes it will handle 400 HP with no trouble, good luck.

P.S. If you have an extended warranty on it then take it to Ford. There is a TSB on the 3650 trans and it gets fixed for free.

Even if you dont have the extended warranty, if there's a TSB it should get rebuilt anyway.
