Default long tubes?

ive heard alot of rumors about lt's on the 4.6 mustang. some people have told me it feels like you actually lost power b/c of the loss of back pressure. i would like some more power. would lt's make a big difference? and if so what brands are the best?

BBK Long tubes are probably the best. Some people say they have lost low end torque because of them. But I did full exhaust at once and gained so much. So I would recommend the LT's

You will lose some low end tq, but if you are concerned about that, then just get some gears to compensate, either 3.73 or 4.10's

I just ordered BBK long tube headers, and the matching BBK short H pipe. Should get them in the mail , and in my car by Monday. I'll let you know what difference it makes from stock manifolds, ect.. I can't wait! :-)

I just put BBK Ceramic Longtubes on, along with a BBK O/R H pipe. I think there is a definte difference. Whether it by 5 hp or 15 hp, I can feel a difference. Generally you would loose backpressure if you got to big of headers, like ones that have 3" collectors vs. BBK's 2.5". If you are making a certain amount of hp and tq then 3" would be a good choice, but most Mustangs that aren't heavily modded are making the hp and tq to just have 2.5". Now for the best headers, I think this is more of an opinion thing than anything else. I think BBK is like the middle choice. It's not the absolute best, but it's not the worst. The headers fit well, but getting them to fit can be a pain. I would say devote yourself about 3 days for this install, provided you're an average guy like me. The best advice I have is to just take your time, make sure you know where all your parts are, and be patient. Hope this gives you a heads up of l/t's. If you have any other questions just let me know. Kevin

BBK are NOT the best. They are good for the money. If you want the very best you have to go with Hooker Headers, which is one of the reasons they cost so much. They WILL give you the hp your looking for with LT's.
