Default Where's the Power?

Where does the power come from in an exhaust set up? I've heard that cat-backs add small or no hp gains and tha tmid-pipes and headers help with performance, is this true? Do headers do anything to the sound of the exhaust or would just adding a mid-pipe and cat-back give me a nice sounding exhaust for now until I can afford some headers? Would the hp gains of just a mid-pipe and cat-back be way less without headers? Help in answering these questions would be appreciated

the midpipe power comes from deleting the cats and bigger piping and different fluid-flow characteristics if you go with an x-pipe. midpipe and cat back will get you a very nice sound for now. you will still get gains without headers, but as with everything, the more mods you have, the better gains you see with each mod- they all work together.

if you plan on getting headers in the future realize that you will need a short midpipe to match up with the long tubes. Maybe you should save up and do them at the same time.
