Default break in a new shifter, or problem?

about a week ago i put in my steeda tri ax shifter and when i powershift it grinds into second but everything else goes in with no problems. i was wondering if it needs to just be taken easy for a little while before i do the hard shifts or could there be something wrong with the stop bolts? or anything else?

97 should be a T-45, and from what I've been reading here, about equally as crappy as the 3650.

Sorry, dude, you're most likely looking at a tranny rebuild/swap in the near future. Powershifting is really rough on them.

I would say to check the stop bolts. If they are to far up, the handle is going to hit that thing and miss the gear. I would say get a gap guage and check the setting of the bolts. I think it was .010 or .10 space that it should be. That might help your problem.
