Default 99-02 GT Is there a best year?

I'm looking for 99-02 GT Convertible. Is there a really good or bad year in this range?
Thanks!

I drove the 2000 vert after having my '02 premium coupe for a couple months and I was totally unimpressed. It just didnt have the punch my car had. This was before any mods was done to my car and my car also had about 25,000 more miles on it! I dont know why but my car just hauls @$$!

verts are heavy - best not to get one unless you just wanna cruise - thats my opinion (but everyone tells me its like an ***).

Hi again, From the replies I've seen so far, other than older maybe being less $$'s, no real difference between this range of years? I am wanting this car as a weekend cruise machine, but do want to intall some performance mods.
Thanks for the response!!

Most vert auto guys have a hard time breaking 14.5's stock. Some have ran impressive times, but drivers that good are rare.

I'd love to have a 'Vert GT, but I'm interested more in a weekend warrior than a weekend cruiser.

Disadvantages: Weigh a couple hundred pounds more
If you are a target of vandalism, plan on buying a 2nd top for it (been there, done that..never again)
Ford Automatics are nothing compared to GM's Automatics
Equal mods between a Vert and coupe 5 speed, the coupe will be the faster of the 2.

As for a difference in performance from 99-02, none at all.

get a 02. They have a different tranny and the different maf. They also look better IMO than a 99-00. 01's are cool too just make sure you get a late 01 w/the 3650 and maf.
