well to put it short you install a bigger crank which gives the pistons more travel thus increasing your cubic inches to 347 on a 302 motor; more compression. nice intake, good heads, big cam, lots of power and torque. get those mags and start reading. i had an 83 capri, 302 h.o. theyre easy as hell to work on. do some looking on the internet also!!

pick up the sept issue of 5.0 mustang and superfords page 50 theres an article on building a 347 stroker motor to 500 hp, the only difference is the one in the article is carburated.

Even if you had to run with a '96 to '98 4.6 motor, using an ultra-lightweight car like a Cobra would allow you to attain admirable performance...

You can buy complete crate engines that come with a decent amount of horsepower. ford racing crate engines

Yup that's about to change. I'm lookin at saleen or vortech. Any other suggestions.

Along with the stroker engine, My budget won't let me drop $4000 on that part (factor in selling the other engine), so I'm going to have to work with the 302 as my platform. Would I be able to safely generate 400 - 500 rwhp out of that engine?

u can get power out of the 96-98..whoever said that is a moron..u just got to spend a little bit more money to match the new edge GT'S..PI heads and cams swap will get u close if not there with the new edges.
