Different dyno's read different numbers and shouldn't really be compared against each other. Dyno's are tools used to tune your car for the most part and some people get wrapped up in dyno numbers and get upset if a particular number isn't reached. The only true test is at the track. Also alot of dyno owners are bumping up readout numbers so they get more business! Find one dyno and use it everytime....but comparing your numbers to someone who was dyno'd at a different place/time/elevation etc isn't going to be fair comparisons. Its just a tool and only as good as its user.

Well they help transfer power to the wheel.

I'm sure its possible to obtain the time they give you. However you have to be a really good driver.

Are stock verts the same weight as coupes? i thought they were heavier. And thanks for your input guys! DTP, i started thinking about what you said when we started getting into this and thought that the only real way to know is use the same dyno or race in similar conditions. So back to the start of this thread, I could be high 13's, low 14's?

This calculator only looks at horsepower. I put in my info, seeing that i have a 98 gt convertible, with the mods in the sig. It weighs approx 3500lbs. It told me that i should be running a 14.8@ 91mph, when in real life i run a 14.4@ 96 mph. Also it told me that with the times i'm actually running, i'd have to be putting down around 245whp, when i dyno'd it and made only 210whp.

Now this doesn't take in conisideration tractions, gearing (both final and tranny gearing), and driver skill. I know for a fact that my car is way faster then what they say from experience. Hell i'm pretty sure i could even get a 14.0 with a little suspension work and better tires! This calculator looks at POWER TO WEIGHT RATIO! I've yelled at many of ricers who use these such calculators, please don't fall for the gimmick.

you could run very high 13's to very low 14's with your mods. Tracks very, luckily i ran at a flat track, but couldn't launch. I'm going to Norwalk next month and shooting for lower 14's.

Back to the dyno online. It is obviously not as accurate as a dyno but I think its pretty good tool for est. As it says in the site, it is strictly a mathematical gauge of the definition of hp. Doesnt take into account gears, traction, or driver ability. I plugged in a friends dyno numbers and 1/4 mile times and it was only of by a half a second or so and hp numbers only a few off so its not bad.

that calculator says I have 255.60808615114888 hp. according to my car weighing ~3400 and with a 1/4 mph at 98.76
put that hp in and my estimated et is 13.801640340218713. I have gotten a 13.633@98.76.

that calc is off either way you look at it, good tool to look at, but no subsitute for seat time at the track.
