Default tranny question

so I bought another 97 a couple of months ago and I went to change the speedo sensor cause my speedometer isnt working. So i pulled the ****er out and noticed it wasnt the same as mine and I knew I bought it for a 97 gt. So I went to ford and they said the sensor came out of a 99-04 gt. So is this possible that I have a t45 in the car. Is it to my advantage or will I not have a speedo. When I plug it in , 2nd gear the car is doing 160+.lol.. Is there a conversion or something that I can do to fix the problem? Thanks

Yes, you have a T-45 and your car came stock with it. They didn't just start using them in 99.

all 97 V8 mustangs have a T45, and the speedo gear is mechanical, not electrical.
