Default PI Heads?

Im thinkin about gettin PI heads. I was wondering what kind of power output #'s I could be expecting to gain. I heard 50rwhp. I dont no if thats true, but it sounds good. I was gettin beat by 99-04 GT's with just my O/R H pipe, but after I got the rest of my mods especially the superchips tuner I was winning by like half a car. So do the PI heads really make a big power difference and are they worth the $? I know they raise compression to

You beat new edge with superchip/midpipe/CAI? Thats not too bad for a NPI motor.

you need more then just the head...you need the intake/cams and all the little pieces that go along with it. But yes its a good upgrade and will raise your comp to @10.3 to 1 and gains of 40-50rwhp are the norm. You will also have to run super gas after the swap.

I think he was running into some bad 99-04 drivers.

If a NPI car with that setup makes 200 WHP I would be highly suprised.

I dont see what the big surprise is about me winning by a measley half a car. 99-04 Gt's are not that much faster from what ive seen. A couple of the ones I beat said they only had Catbacks, some were stock.[:'(] You make it sound like they run with Ls1's

because a NPI starts off with a 35 or so WHP disadvantage and has a terrible power curve over about 5000 or so RPM.

You will not beileve the difference a PI swap will make on your car.

Put it this way. MM&FF had a full boltons/cam'd NPI car barely making the same amount of power as a stock PI 99-04 car.

Mine didn't even make it to 5000rpms when it was NPI...would fall flat on its face at 4500rpms...that intake and cams are pathetic!

If you're gonna have the heads off anyways, it's a good time to do a cam swap also. Go with some stage 1 or 2 cams and you'll see some even better improvements. You could find some used bare heads for cheap, have them ported/polished, and throw a better cam in and you'd see some massive gains from what you're running right now. There's a bunch of bits and pieces you'd also have to pick up to do the swap. I know Parkway Ford out of GA sells complete kits on ebay for $1,350 shipped. That kit comes with every single thing you would need to complete it. Also, it would be a good time to do a header swap.

In a MM & FF issue I think it was the mustang shootout issue they dynod a 40th anniv. GT and it only put down 224 rwhp. I remember in another MM&FF issue when they first started modding project RSC, stock it put down like 198 I think. with just a few bolt ons they were right around that territory. im just sayin it dosen't take that many mods to get into PI stock territory. And when are you gonna get that thing lowered man, if you havent already?
