Yo!

Sorry I dont know which one it was that broke! Replaced tho, and the car feels good... of course, went out on a 100 degree day and the car felt SOOO sluggish... wondering if an intercooler is worth it... mechanic said it really wasnt, but...

400$? haha talk about being robbed. takes me maybe a half hour to take my vortech head unit off, another 30 to thread a new belt on. i just think they should have charged you 200$ at most, considering the alt pulley needs to be replaced and such. 400$ is a complete rip off.

wonder if that is crank or rw? his siggy says motor done, so maybe with some steep cams a stuff, but 475rwhp might be a stretch, but a ton of boost will do it. curious to see as well. can someone tell me how to release belt pressure and if i go from a 3.6 pulley to a 3.48, can i use the same belt? i only have 500 mi on the belt, dont want to buy another if i dont HAVE to. sorry for the semi hijack.

Just get a wrench on the tensioner and torque it... it'll move enough so that you can unthread the serpentine belt from the pulleys. I'm not sure if you can use the same belt if you're switchin pulley sizes...

Sorry for not replying, for some reason this thing isnt getting highlighted with "new reply" bold face...

No aftercooler; the motor is still a 4.6, but was rebuilt with all forged stuff... Manley rods and pistons, Cobra crank, etc etc. Cams arent special; I just ran outta cash when doing the motor, which I had blown originally Talk about suck; I had the dough a month later Boost is turned way up, different pulley... also, I admit that the 475 is at the motor I just like the sound of it; I know people usually list RW, but... car makes 420.6 to the rear, which actually averages at 15 percent loss through the (manual) tranny to like 483 hp or so... unfortunately I dont have the know-how, the tools, or the time to work on the car myself; I dont live with the car atm, and any time I am with it I want to be driving The labor ended up being just shy of 300 bucks, which included a quick reweld of a heat shield and an oil change... I guess the garage isnt cheap, but its the only one in the area I trust to touch the car, so... what can you do.

I'll check that stud, Cornbread... it is the second time that belt has been an issue, so I wonder if there is something I (or the mechanic) is missing...

I don't know what mechanic you're going to, but apparently they don't know much about cars..

I know this is a bit O/T, but how could the monkey turning wrenches on your car say that an Intercooler is NOT going help you?? It's like he WANTS your car to go to ****..

First step: Stop going to that mechanic. Not only is $400 robbery for a Serpentine belt, a retarded woman, w/ no arms could change a serpentine, for the cost of a Beer at a bar... That's it..

Second Step: Save some cash and get a good intercooler.. Not only will it give you some performance, it'll smooth out boost, make your engine more efficient, and honestly, it'll increase the longevity of your engine/supercharger..

I'm with GodAmGT00.

Any mechanic who says an intercooler isn't worth it should stop installing power adders and keep doing oil changes, because he is useless.

Do you understand HOW MUCH HEAT a supercharger produces? Much like a turbo, the heat is excessive, forged pistons or not - the heat will do a major number on those pistons. I wouldn't even CONSIDER putting on a supercharger without an intercooler. It's a horrible idea, some people will argue that but the bottom line is - HEAT IS YOUR ENEMY with any sort of FI.

This is just my opinion, I wouldn't make any runs through the gears @ full boost for any length of time, ESPECIALLY with the boost & hp you're making.
