i have a 96 gt and was considering the pi swap.. WEll my car only has 40,000 miles on it so i wanted to just do the pi heads and intake and the vt stage 1 cam.. But ive read that even with it swapped its still not as fast as the 99-04?? why is that?
so i may be looking to swap just the whole motor instead.. Its not something i want to do, im just tossing things around right now
actually doing a PI head/cam/intake swap will give you more HP then the 99-04 GT because of the added compression. Add VT st 1 cams and now your a good 30-40 rwhp over a stock 99-04

motor swap. pi motor for a grand or so, with low miles, and if you cant do the swap yourself, 1500 for labor. pi head swaps are just as costly as a motor swap, but they raise your compression and you still have your old worn bottom end. id seriously consider a pi motor swap, especially if you plan on doing fi.
i was thinking of buying a 99-04 engine block and working with that but i figured all the mods i would have to do to make it fit in my 96 would just be too much of a hassle for someone who doesn't know what there doing under the hood yet. (im only getting my licesne here soon so my parents will only let me buy so much perf. stuff before they think ill hurt myself hah)
no mods required really, everything bolts up perfect. just gotta use your 96 ecu and ignition. basically just swap over everything from your stock motor, including harness. theres nothing to it

i think i might just go with the ford racing heads/intake instead of doing PI swap if it adds a good bit more hp than PI heads/intake do. and it won't raise my compression either so(unless im wrong on that?)

wow you must have a lot of money to burn for that intake plus 2 grand for heads. the compression will still be bumped due to you still having the stock 96 pistons. might consider just rebuilding the whole motor, seeing how you'd be dropping 3500+ for the intake +heads. hell there are some nice built 4.6s for under 5 grand.

the FRPP heads will not raise compression but lower it slightly.... the FRPP CC is 53 while the NPI is 51 and PI is 42.

and besides if i'd get a 99+ motor wouldn't i be putting around the same money into it just buying heads/intake/internals and all that other ****, as if id just buy ford racing heads/intake?

i was just saying, if you want the power of a newer gt do the motorswap. if you want a built monster of a motor, either buy a built one or completely rebuild yours, cause to me dropping 3500$ on just heads/intake is a waste of money when you can have a completely forged/cammed motor with a lot more power for a couple grand more. the cheapest route would be get used pi heads/cams/intake and doit yourself for under 1500$ total.

it made since to me that if i did the pi swap id have obviosly the same intake cams and heads so i should have the same hp, since it raises the compression it should be more than a 99-04.. i really want to do the pi swap and get it done and over while im making decent money living at home.. and can do the work myself.. i want the vt stage one cams.. I remember reading that if you port the pi heads without changing cams its kinda pointless is that true? ive been thinking of gathering all the parts together like the heads and intake and cams and a tuner.. my goal is to build my 96 to get low 13's with full boltons like gears, aluminum flyhwheel, pi swap (possible head porting), cams, pullies, long tubes and full exhaust all the way back, cold air, throttle body, good set of drag radials.. let me know what you think

all that should get you 12's if you can drive...
