I know of the shield your talking about on them, seen them in pics- but I can't help with fitment probs since Ive never used it. And if you havent already done your mass air meter and full exhaust and gears, dont go with a throttle body or plenum - those should be the last things you do - since the hp per dollar isnt very good (350+ for both tb and plenum = like 7hp on a near stock 4.6).

If I were you, I would go in this order:

Cat-back exhaust
gears
lowering springs
cai
pulleys
mid-pipe
long tubes
mass air meter
tb
plenum

if your drag racing any then I'd put upper and lower control arms on at the same time as springs
thats a similar order that I went with (havent done tb and plenum yet) and its well thought out - except I did long tube headers at the same time with mid-pipe and cat back (only because I didnt have labor to worry about - and for longtubes on a 4.6 thats like $500+ bucks).
I want to stay away from gears since that will affect my gas mileage. Just wondering why you would go lowering springs 3rd and not lower down in the list. What kind of springs and how big should the drop be and what is the advantages of doing it?

yes it is nice looking but yah know what. i cant put the heat sheild on around the filter cause there is no give to the pipe . u might not know what im talking about but there is a plastic heat sheld that bolts right in where the stock one does and now that the pipe is solid to the TB i cant bolt it in. do u have any ideas on how to jerry rig it. or should i just leave the heat sheild off. but then im gonna let in too much hot air from the engine. oh well will see hwta i think of.
The heat shield should bolt into the stock bolt position. If you are having problems, then loosen the connection at the t/b and move it until it all lines up.

Here is a picture of the piece I am talking about. Of course I am assuming you have all C&L.

BTW while the T/B genreally isn't worth crap on a nearly stock 4.6, the upper plenum has been dynoed with the rest of the C&L setup and a 75 MM T/B to be worth 9-12 RWHP on a otherwise stock 4.6 (the plenum alone, aka on top of the other gains) Take a look at the stock vs the new one, the stock one looks like ****.

the springs werent for performance, they were for looks and I just got tired of the 4x4 look - they will help your cornering and looks but will hurt your track launches some...

I have Steeda sport springs, I loved the lowered look, really looks slammed in the front (I slam curbs for sure...lol).

My traction sucks now, gears don't help either. [:@]

for real about the traction and gears being lowered. I put on lower and upper rear control arms the same time I did the springs and I didnt notice any traction difference... thats a good thing Boy it handles like a dream now - especially with the subframe connectors.

Yeah, I love the 4.10's but I can seriously wheel-hop through 1st/2nd/3rd if I shift too hard, I'm really interested in seeing how hard it will throw me back with traction...
