Default Ready for some suspension mods

I know these questions get asked all the time...but i want to know where to start and possibly what order. I just want to do some stuff to help my handling and stiffen up the frame. But i don't know where i should start. I'm looking for some more simple wallet friendly stuff, so if you guys have experience with this stuff, tell me if i can do it myself and about how much it will cost me.

I know you said you want better handling, but to what degree?? I mean, most of the good aftermarket springs, you can get in a garden variety of Spring rates, and I think the pricing is the same as gears. Universal price, different performance.

If you do Springs, DO SHOCKS/STRUTS!!! Don't skimp out for your own safety, and aggravation of having to do that stuff twice..

Do you want appearance to be a factor?? Remember CC Plates are almost a necessity if you're going lower than 2", but I'm sure you've read that over 1,000 times...

Strut tower Bracing in the front is a great way to really stiffen things up.. Subframe connectors are a great idea as well...

As I say from time to time..

Every part strengthens a part...

I personally recommend that if you lower your car, you should get the Bump-steer's, which will take care of your Tie-rods, and you should upgrade your Ball joints since you now have a new Angle of Attack on your front suspension.. Bushings are a great idea too, since it gives you more "feeling," of the road. You're more connected w/ poly/solid bushings since they don't dissipate road vibrations..

Also, don't forget, out of all of the Handling modifications, TIRES are a monumental improvement, regardless of suspension mods. Not to say that Tires cure all, but remember, what's between the road and your car??

And another thing I always say, LIGHTEN UP!! Take unnecessary crap out of your car. For every 100lbs you lose, that could potentially take .1's off your E/T for drag racing, but it makes an even bigger impact when going through the twisties...

Less weight = less inertia = less effort on the car's behalf..

HTH

What about upgrading sway bars, does that make a big difference?

the best start is a shock and strut setup. This is a good base for what comes next, springs, etc etc

I still have stock shocks and struts with sportlines and they are holdin pretty good

Swaybars/torsion bars work great. The problem is, they tend to be a bit TOO stiff for most people, and causes them to have Oversteer issues.. Usually, swaybars are some of the last suspension modifications people do, since the stock one tends to be just enough for their driving characteristics. They do, however, get the Poly- End links which helps a lot. I believe there are a few companies that make them..
