Well, put the car in neutral, rev it real high, then drop it into first. You can burn out almost any automatic by doing that.
Again, don't do what this guy is suggesting. You may very well burn out, but on the road you will leave much more than rubber, like transmission bolts, etc. Think about it: Automatic transmissions engage the clutch immediately and suddenly--NOT like manuals, where you can regulate the friction between clutch and flywheel, and thus make the strain on the clutch and transmission not so great. HOWEVER! If you rev in neutral, and drop to drive, the clutch will engage all the way, and it will put a ridiculous amount of pressure on the flywheel. This is a sure way to blow it all to bits. The only worse thing you could do is jam reverse while going 50mph forward. The best way to burn out on an automatic is to stand-brake, and even that is tough on your engine. These people are idiots--don't ruin your car over stupid advice.
First, I am not an idiot, but you're being a real jack-*** for even bringing namecalling into the thread. Secoind, it will work, you will burn out, it is easy which was the question. Obviously, the amount of undue stress is proportional to what revs you launch at. A few years ago I decided to experiment this technique quite a bit on an old junker (86 camry). After doing it all day, the transmission didn't fail in any way and I was launching it at redline. But that's just my experience. Good luck with whatever method you use.

Don't forget, he could be just one of those unlucky SOB's that bought a GT with 2.78 gears. Don't laugh, some did have them. Change the gears to 3.73's and spin the tires down to the rims if you want! With todays much improved tread compounds, much wider profiles and limited slip rears, it can be a bit harder to burn out at times. 2.78's and 3.08's don't make it any easier.

Listen, you have a 98' GT right, it should be harder to stop the car than burnout at least a little bit. Take into account your car is seven years old who knows how well it was taken care of before you bought I suggest looking at your intake and air filter. If filter is dirty and clogged your engine may not be able to breathe freely costing you HP and slow throttle response. Also if your budget permits it try a cold air intake. Then if your tires are not spinning like Whitney Houstons head you might want to have some one take a look at it. It dosen't take a ton of HP to spin tires with out brake standing, my mother has a 99' ford escort 4 door and I can get a little spin and squealing if I floor it from a complete stop and it's stock!
