Default taaaallll gearing

bought a 97 gt from my parents and man does this thing have tall gears in it i can do 80 down the free way and not crack 2k rpms wtf is up with that? whats the tallest gears from the factory?

It is possible that you have a 2.73 gear. I'm guessing you have the 5 speed.

You either have 2.73s or 3.08s. The other possible choice is 3.27s

yep its a 5 speed. what gearing do most of you guys have? id like to do 3.73s but i drive on the highway every day so i dont know if that would be a good thing going that low

i have 4.10s and i drive highway every day... u got a stang and you're supposed to pay for the fun :P otherwise you'd be better off getting a civic

dude with that speed and that rpm, you have the 2.73s for sure

i have the 3.27s and at about 60mph, i'm at about 1800 rpm

civic [:'(] i dident say thats all i like to do thats just what i have to do to get to work i dont wont to be cruzin down the highway at like 3k or somthing. would 3.73 be a good mix of lowend and topend?

3.73s will def wake up your car its only a few rpms above the stock gears [&:] i rather have a big improvement in acceleration than saving 2-3mpg.
