LT's= Long tube

IMO= in my opinion

FTW= for the win

CAI= cold air intake

CEL= check engine light

O/R= offroad

i cant remember all the other abbreviations. But dont worry I am a new member too and I was asking what everything meant also. I would get them done professionaly, it's easier and less time. They charged me $40 for my flowmaster and said if i got a X or H pipe it would be the same, so just call around and ask prices. Also if you are going offroad pipes you will need MIL eliminators or a Tuner because your check engine light will come on. good luck

thanks appreciate it. i was planning on getting the x pipe and then eventually a tuner when i could save enough money for it. is there a huge difference between the sct and predator tuner?

The predator is a lot easier to use then the SCT but both do pretty much the same exact thing. But if you are going to get the tuner you should get the gears with it because it is only a little more. you can get the tuner and the gears for $449 at rpmoutlet.com

the gears help a lot with acceleration.

which gears would provide acceleration throughout the rpm range and not just at the top or bottom. i would like gears that let me know my car is ready to go even when i'm just daily driving and revving at 3500.

you might want to go with 3.73's then because you will be shifting a lot more, but 4.10's will give you the most acceleration through out the rpm range. 3.73's give you a little difference at the low end but better for top. You have a stick though so your low end acceleration shouldn't be too bad. It is really preference of what you want I wanted to show you this article under Tech Faqs and Articles at mustangtuning.com but the article is under construction for some reason it says coming soon. weird it worked the other day.

this is the direct site whenever it starts working again

4.10's and stick shift = a lot of shifting

plus if you go to a supercharger or something like it 3.73's would be better for you so you could use the most of your powerband

Gears work throughout the rpm system as they are not a power adder, they are a power transfer mod. Higher numerical gears(stock are 3.27's) and most guys go with 3.73's or 4.10's, allow the engine to rev quicker so theoretically they make the car accellerate quicker. The more mods you have the more the gears help. Gears alone probably take .1 off your 1/4 mile time. If you do much highway driving they will probably cost you a couple miles per gallon.
I just added a PYPES catted X-pipe with a PYPES catback and the motor seems to rev a bit more freely. Has a nasty drone at 2K rpm's under half throttle accelleration though.
