I have been lazy and I havent poped the hood yet, I just wanted to get in the ac and relax. But usually when I turn the AC on I hear a "thunk" when the compressor or some sort of shutter closes and I feel my car encounter resistance and kidna slow down. But when I turn it to AC it does nothing, just blow hot air.

IM all good! its 98 Degrees here and I have AC again! I think I just slipped my clutch in the AC compressor badly yesterday. Because this morning it worked fine. I think I needed to let it cool down. I noticed I passed 5500rpm today with the AC on and it died again on me and started blowing hot air, but then about 5 minutes later it started to work again. So for future referance I dont think you can exceed 5500rpm with the AC on without it breaking.

ive done it, i love the feeling of hitting 3000 rpms and the a/c disengaging for WOT, and you feel all the power come back, weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. i think your compressor is on its last days especially if you keep racing with it on. no doubt the higher your rpms are, the higher it spins the a/c, therefore im sure theres a reason they have it shut off at WOT, other than driver desired power, its prolly bad for the compressor/ a/c system.

I just finished replacing the clutch on my compressor just a few weeks ago. If you continue to encounter slipping I would suggest doing the same, its relatively cheap ($135) and will help prevent any damage to the compressor. My old clutch was so warn down that the pulley would still engage for a split second and at high RPM's that’s not good!
PS. You probably don't need to replace the magnet, so don't get duped if you have a shop do it for you.
Good luck,
