okay thanks everyone. i downshift a lot to help me slow down, but i never get close to redlineing it.

WWMOST-- i dont shift into 1st unless i completley stop, i alwasy put it in second and pull out.

1st and reverse dont have synchros. Have you ever not been able to get into reverse and you have to first pit it in another gear first and then go back to reverse for it to line up? Or same thing with first? Thats because there are no synchros

I can't even put mine into 1st past 10mph without forcing it.

yea thats what you are supposed to do. my car screams like a bitch if i even get close to 1st while moving[:'(]

edit: mgw fixed my problem with not finding 3rd. maybe you should invest in one

ha i ment 03sonicgt. hey stuff happens right? i always seem to push my shifter right between 1st and 3rd, and it pisses me off, and this time, i went a tad too far to the left.

First gear is synchronized, reverse is not. The only reason it's difficult to shift back into first is because of how steep that gear is. Mine shifts easily into 1st up to about 20mph...not that I generally need to.

You might want to consider an aftermarket spring loaded shifter. It moves the shifter to the right automatically when you shift from second to third so you dont have that problem of going into first like you did.
+1 My 2-3 shift is as quick and easy as my 1-2
