Here's mine. I gave 'em an acid wash before i painted them. Prevents peeling off later because of painting dirty calipers, and I only wanna do it once. I used caliper spray from Pep Boys. 2 coats.

The factory painted Cobra and Bullitt calipers are actually powder coated, not painted. Prep the surface right, but I wouldn't use a primer. Most, if not all, primers will not hold up to the heat generated from the brakes. If you apply a high-temp paint over low temp primer, the high temp will still bubble, peel and flake off. Just use a good high temp paint like RustOleum high temperature or equivalent. I think it is good for up to 800 deg.
If it is not primed, the high temp paint will not stick. Mines not chipped at all after a year.

Check this out, G2 is a Epoxy system that really lasts. I have used it on my VW and Stang and neither have peeled or changed appearance. You can get some good deals on Ebay.

How did you guys go about painting them? Obviously pull the wheel but then did you pull the calipers off or just cover up the rest and go from there?

I take the caliper all the way off. The G2 system comes with a can of brake clean to really get all the grime off. I scotch brite the caliper to smooth it out a little and then apply. The G2 takes about 3 coats and comes out as smooth as a spray can. It will require about 3-4 hours to dry before you can install again. Then overnite before you should drive with it painted.
