Default California Emissions

Thinking about moving to Los Angeles from New Jersey... anybody know if it's possible to pass inspection with LT's and no cats?

Isn't California like the most strict state about emissions? Stay in Nj, I love it.

Without the cats, you'll get boned on the visual inspection if they catch it.

Not a chance. California leads the nation in strict emissions laws. From what I hear, you have to have CARB certifications for all aftermarket parts (I could very well be wrong on that point). But, even Texas requires cats.

However, I'm sure you can find yourself a lax inspection station with really bad vision on a visual inspection, but it'll cost you.

I have a buddy in town that told me to take my car to X inspection station, give the guy a $20 and you're golden. I don't have any problems since I have and always plan to have cats...but it's nice to know the option is there.

If you move to LA, get with a mustang club. I'm sure they'll hook you up.

Any idea about whether or not CA inspections are yearly or every two years? I could also switch it back to stock for inspection and take it off again but that'll be costly install wise.

I don't know much about Bassani X pipes, but aren't they modular? Maybe you could get away with clamping on some cats. I know it's possible with SLP. Just a thought.
