Just bought supercharged 1998 GT...have some questions:
Hey guys,
I am new to the site and have just bought a Vortech supercharged 1998 Mustang GT 5-speed. I just have a few questions about extra maintenance and care required for supercharged vehicles. I just changed my oil with Mobil-1 5W30 synthetic and a Mobil 1 filter. Is there anything I need to do to ensure that the supercharger remains in good shape?
Also, when the car is idleing there is a slow knocking noise from the right side of the car. It doesnt do this right at startup but it does a little bit after. I don't think it's engine knock is it is VERY slow...sort of a knock....knock.....knock when the engine is at idle. It almost sounds as if it is coming from the supercharger. Performance doesn't seem to be affected by it either. Any ideas as to what this may be?
Thanks in advance for the help!

RE: Just bought supercharged 1998 GT...have some questions:
Does the noise come from the right topside of the engine? How many miles on the engine? I know if valves start sticking, the springs don't push against the cam followers as hard as they should. This lets the cam follower rattle around, and if it gets too bad the follower will come off.

Well it doesnt...or at least its extremely quiet because i cant hear it at all when the revs increase....its only at idle
does the supercharger's oil need to be changed? i have heard that you change it with some versions but i dunno about centrifugal

I don't know bout your, but some S/Cers tap into your oil pan for oil. You might check to see if that's the case. If so, then you don't need to change the S/Cer oil.

Well I guess the knocking speeds up in RPM...but gets quiter it seems.
I really don't think it is an engine problem but rather something is wrong with my supercharger. The engine has great oil pressure and runs great. Overall, the car runs perfectly...very strong...but the noise is starting to worry me.
