Oil Change - Need Advice
I got a 99 Mustang Cobra, a few bolt on mods...got about 70,000 miles on it...and i'm about to do an oil change...
what's a good oil for my car (I live in SO Cal so it's pretty hot most of the time) and what's the best oil filter... Thanks guys...! |
RE: Oil Change - Need Advice
I use mobil 1 fully synthetic motor oil and a motorcraft filter. No problems. A k&n or mobil 1 oil filter are not worth the extra $$$ if you ask me. If you don`t want to use fully synthetic oil, then you should go with a higher mileage oil.

+1 mobil 1 fully synthetic motor oil
oil filters are only a few bucks. Go get the best, k&n for like 12 bucks. |
RE: Oil Change - Need Advice
+2 mobil 1 full synthetic
+1 K&N I put the ford recommended 5w20 in my Mach 1. Some people will recommend a higher viscosity, like a 5w30 for warmer climates. I have always run 5w20 and I have never had any problems and Texas can get pretty freakin' hot. |
RE: Oil Change - Need Advice
mobil 1 oil which is good sh**, and I usually run either a motorcraft filter or a wix... both are good IMO

RE: Oil Change - Need Advice
I use castrol syntec and a motorcraft filter

ORIGINAL: MustangChris04 i bought 10w30 will that work? yeah 10w30 will be fine, it's just a bit thicker. The thing with 5w20 is that they only selected it because it improves fuel economy. And not in a way you can notice. On a vehicle by vehicle basis, it improves it by like .000001mpg... but on an entire production of vehicles it saves fuel. HOWEVER... on a relatively new motor, I've always gone by what the book says, so go with whatever is listed there. I need to run thicker oil cuz mineburns it now... ::sigh:: |
