Default 99 Continental 32v in a 96 Stang GT?

Here's the deal, my grandma is looking to sell her 99 Lincoln Continental w/60k miles on it.(Can't drive anymore) Said she would give me a great deal on it. It has the 4.6liter Intech 32 valve DOHC and I was wondering what it would take to put that motor in my 96 GT?

That 4.6 in that Lincoln kicks out like 275HP ... A lil jump from my stock 215HP

Actually, I think the DOHC engines we a little more than that power wise, once they fixed the issues they originally had..

Well, if it's a complete donor car, then you're off to a great start... Engine wiring harness, ECU, flywheel (unless you want to swap in the AODE from the Conti), engine mounts, and just about everything else is the same from what I remember..

There's obviously going to be a lot of little odds and ends, but if you have a complete Donor Car, then you should be able to strip the majority of stuff off of it..

You may want to do a more Thorough search though, since I'm sure it's been asked/covered here before....

Nevermind, forgot it was a dohc. You would need a quit a bit of stuff, new comp, timing cover, etc... and alot of money for labor. It would be pretty expensive. Were y0ou gonna just buy it from her for parts?

You might be better off re-selling it if your getting a good deal on it. I dunno what the details are but I think a whole car would be worth more than the engine.

I guess, I would be better off reselling it. I guess I could take the profit I make and use that to buy a motor. The reason I want that motor is, I'm not sure if anybody has driven one of those Continentals but they go like a raped ape!

you could maybe sell your 96GT and the Continental and get a 96 Cobra, which is faster then both

So what's the difference between this motor that's in that Continental and the DOHC 4V stang motors?

The continentals are FWD cars and they use a frFWD block with a different bell housing pattern. That block will not bolt up to a RWD transmission so it will not work in your mustang. You can use the heads but for that hassel I would just sell the car.
