I had a 97 ss about 5 years ago and I would race a VR4 from a roll to 80 or so ( top of third ) and destroy them. above about 100+ they hang a little better but still beat them. that being said....I raced a 3000gt 3.0 (non-turbo) with my 92 camaro RS 305 auto 2.73's and he beat me by about a car to sixty. If I had to guess im going to call it a drivers race, he may have 220-hp but I doubt its much over 200 lb-ft of torque. as long as you shift at 5k and use your torque advantage I think you'll win

Good luck, but just remember N2O is just a phone call away....Then you'll be beating VR4's

What does a 96 GT have for HP? I know that a stock 00+ GT will take a Stealth non turbo and a 3000 non turbo. I raced both prior to getting my 02 in my old stock 00 and walked away from both. Turbo is anouther question. My buddies 90 supra turbo with a rebuilt motor was nose to nose with my 00. It was a drivers race every time.

ORIGINAL: mustangman02232

drivers race

but, the stand is an auto so its basically if the 3000GT screws a shift then thats the only way the stang would win is what ur saying?

It's all about skill is what he's saying, launching. the 3kgt's shifting, knowing when to shift for him, etc etc. So many different things influence the end results of a race. Any of them could put a bumpers length on either of you.

you SHOULD beat him...this guy i knew (yea that EX-FRIEND) had a 3000GT 5 spd...we raced a couple times and we were nose to nose until he shifted into 3rd...he can't powershift though so idk...btw i'm a V6 Auto...and i have a system in the trunk which probably helped my launch but slowed me down in the end
