I have a MAC o/r H pipe, it didnt make it too much louder. Its definately noticeable, but not annoyingly loud unless you go revving over 4k rpm all the time. Made mine deeper too
Mine did have some effect on performance. I lost a little low end torque, but gained more above 3000.

Once an o/r pipe is truely broken in... they is no comparison to a catted midpipe. My friend from work has an 01 GT with LTs, catted X and Stingers.... and I have LTs, o/r X, and LM1's....
So pretty much a very very similar setup other than my o/r X, and my sound BLOWS him away, no even close. I know my LM1s still have some over his stingers, but I would say no cats make a pretty damn big difference.
And yes, without the cats its much more unrefined and little higher pitched.... and LOUDDD.
