manual and a auto is a huge difference, i drove in my buddies 99 manual stock and i could tell there was a huge difference. you can just get more out of your powerband and shift quicker by getting through the rpm's faster

I'm not sure on this but someone told me with every 10lbs is a tenth of a second.
It's more like 100 lbs. equal a tenth of a second.

ok that sounds better i bet they just had a typo and forgot that extra digit, but i was thinking about ghostriding the whip down the track, because without me in it i would probly run like 5's....lol.....i thought the 10lb tenth of a second rule was off quite a bit.....thanks for clearing that up

verts are something like 325 lbs more then coupes, and the autos are slushes and a bit heavier as well,

ORIGINAL: DROES99STANGsince i am one of the slowest gt's out there i am very desperate for the gears, i bet it is a huge difference, and since it is soo heavy i probly dont really need wider tires because that stupid vert motor is already slamming the car to the ground with its weight....i am actualy going with 275's but right now i have 245's and 2 of them are brand new, so i was gonna save some money by just buying two more and then swap them out after their fried.
275/40's are the same dimensions as the 245/45's so you could get a pair for the back, 275's, drag radials like Nitto's if you can afford them. mark

My '99 drop top weighs 33xx lbs and has an automatic. A properly done auto will most often beat a stick, please no flaming or wars. Even with the tuner firming my shifts I have the car jump mwhen it shifts from 1-2 and with an actual shift kit it would jump a carlength at the shift, been there. mark

it is true that an auto is better, why do you think a lot of drag cars are autos. with the best auto tranny and shift kit and all that good stuff a person can't out shift that
