is there a map sensor on our 4.6 engines?
im having ignition problems, a guy told me to check my map sensor, i have a haynes manual which doesn't show anything about a map sensor, autozone doesn't have one, nor can they order one. One guy told me it was a dealer part, but thats probably just becuase he can't find it on his computer at the auto parts store. Everything i've looked at on the internet has map sensors only on 5.0s, and i guess the MAF replaced the MAP in 96. Anyone know anything of this, i have a 97 cobra, map sensor or no?

Yo do not have a MAP. The were used on the speed density motors. You should have the EEC-V electronics and a MAF. Just pop open the hood. If you see a MAF, you don't have a MAP and vise-a-versa.

Pugs/wires first, if you have an intermiitent miss, crank sensor would be my next look see. The crank sensor is low inthe engine and frequently the connection corrodes. A couple of weeks ago i was checking out a 4.6 lincoln no-start, as I back probed the crank sensor the car started. I cleaned th connector with contact cleaner, no more problem!
