underdrive Pulleys

Hey is it normal when changing the crank pulley to see oil? not being very mechanically inclined i have no idea so i decided not to take the pulley off until i got an expert opinion. If its not normal for this to happen any help on how i would go about fixing this problem would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

It's only normal to see oil on the outside of your engine if there is a gasket or a seal leaking.

As far as fixing it, it all depends on witch gasket or seal is leaking.

well i'm hoping you didnt manage to crack your crank bearing at the end of the motor there how frivolous is this drip?

it dripped for like a couple seconds and then stopped. i hope its just a seal leaking and nothing serious

Are we talking about a high mileage car here?

RE: underdrive Pulleys

if you call 62000 miles high mileage then yes

It's high enough that the front main seal could be leaking a little. If it's just a couple of drops and then it quit I wouldn't worry about it as long as you didn't somehow do something really wacky to damage it when you pulled of the crank pulley.
