Default Detonation

Hello All,

I got a mail order tune from Mustang Tuning and below 2000 rmps when I hit the gas I hear a marble like sound coming from my engine. I was wondering if this is detonation. My tune is for 93 octane which I have been using. I put the stock tune back on my car and I don't hear the sound anymore........My car feels like it pulls more without the tune then with it... I don't know what I should do, should I adjust my timing and see if that helps, or should I make MT do the work????

Get rid of the mail order tune.

I was down like 8 whp and 10 whtq with the generic mail order tune from diablo I had in my car. I would never use a generic tune, be it in a handheld or chip. Custom burned is the only way to go.

They are in georgia, and they should be able to send you a tune in a handheld that will work.

However, what all is done to your car? Unless you have alot of boltons etc there really isn't a good reason to get a tune right now, unless you have a automatic or are trying to correct for new rear gears. In that case, order a handheld and correct the gears/shiftpoints and leave the stock tune alone.

What tuner do you have? I disagree with the custom burnt chip. Yeah it'd work, but if you'd change something then you have to reburn the chip again, when you can just you a handheld tuner and have it re-tuned at a local speed shop. Sure either way you still have to re-tune/burn. I just prefer the tuner. It depends on if you have Diablo, Hypertech,or SCT?

I have the following done in my sig....I did it for the shift points, but I think my car is detonating which is not worth the shift points......I am going to change my gear ratio for the stock tune and try to get a new tune for my car....this is bull**** seeing how I paid 385.00 for the hand held, and the tune......
