So, my Mach 460 CD player jammed...
As the thread title says, my cd player jammed over the weekend. I was ejecting a disc when it just stops working, and the info receiver screen says CD Error. I've heard rumors around here that the 6 disc changer is a piece of junk, but now I know it really is. Do any of you think that Ford will be able to repair it, or will I have to purchase a brand new one? How much would that cost? Or should I just go to Best Buy and buy an aftermarket unit? I'm leaning towards the aftermarket player, as I've used those in all my other cars and have never had a problem. If I go with an aftermarket player will I be able to hook up the Mach's amps and the speakers in the door (near the window) to the new player? I don't want to lose the 6 disc in dash capability, but I also don't want the new Mach player to break in 3 months. Thanks in advance for your help!

Mine jammed once too, but I managed to clear it out by punching the eject buttons over & over again (lucky!)
I've found out the Mach460 doesn't like some brands of aftermarket blank CDr's. They're "thicker" than pre-recorded CD's you buy from the store & that's what causes the jam. Well that's one reason anyway lol

Okay, I just spent 15 mins in the garage poking at the CD with a tweezers and a knife...eventually the disc popped out!!!! I loaded and ejected some more CD's just to be sure it was working the right way. It all seems normal now, but I'll be forever afraid of putting in CD's I've paid for and losing them to the player. The jammed disc was a CDR, a Memorex of 2003 vintage. Thanks, GreyStang for the warning about CDR's, I will keep that in mind! Oxfordgt, thank you for the link, I'm actually going to bookmark it in case this happens again, or if I decide to get an aftermarket head unit anyway! Saving several hundred dollars feels real good right now! We'll see what happens in the future.

FYI I know that the memorex CD-R's work fine on my mach 460.
